Nuove sorprese e conferme mondiali agli MTV Europe Music Aawards.

Anche se Britney Spears non era presente ad accettarli, ha vinto ben due awards ai – per 2008 Europe Music Awards Best Album of the Year e Act of 2008. L’altro grande vincitore sono i padroni di casa del VIP Lounge Bar 30 Seconds To Mars, che hanno collezionato due premi per Rock Out e Video Star. Ma il potere supremo è come sempre del pubblico che è riuscito ad eleggere Rick Astley come Best Act Ever. Rick non era presente in sala e in sua assenza, i presentatori Katy Perry e Perez Hilton hanno affascinato il pubblico con una breve danza sulle note del suo brano più famoso “Never Gonna Give You Up”. Tramite un comunicato, Astley ha dichiarato: “Sono onorato che i miei fan si siano dati così da fare per farmi vincere come Best Act Ever agli MTV Europe Music Awards. E’ la prima nomitation che ricevo agli EMA e vorrei ringraziare tutti coloro che hanno votato per me.” Sir Paul McCartney è stato insignito dello speciale premio  – Ultimate Legend Award – presentato da Bono, leader degli U2.
